Private Dog Training Lessons

Please note that I am currently on hiatus from accepting new clients. This is to allow me time to serve my current clients to the best of my ability. I will make an announcement when I begin seeing new clients again.

We can meet at your home or another suitable location for an hour-long session to work with your dog together. Scheduling is very flexible. During this session I can help you address any questions or concerns you may have about your dog’s training or behavior. Includes ongoing support via phone and email. Common reasons people contact me for private lessons include leash pulling, jumping up to greet, barking, anxiety, fear, aggression, separation anxiety, new adoption or new puppy, destructive chewing, inappropriate play, crate training, etc. Dogs learn through consistency and repetition, so be prepared to continue the work we start at our session as part of day to day life with your dog. Contact me so we can get started, I love to see my clients’ progress with their dogs!

I also offer remote dog training and behavior consultations via Zoom. Pricing is the same as for in-person consultations.

$99/ initial 1-1.5 hour long consult
$75/ lesson for additional 1 hour long sessions

Rates listed above are for Champaign, Urbana, & Savoy, IL. I do have some limited availability for appointments outside of this area – out of town appointments require an additional flat mileage fee of $15.

Group Dog Training Classes

I teach the Champaign County Humane Society group dog training classes. We currently offer a Puppy Socialization class (puppies 8 weeks to 4 months of age) and a Basic Manners class (5 months+). Classes are held at Prairieland Feeds in Savoy. Class size is small, and assistants help instruct and guide handlers throughout the course as well. Classes are currently held on Monday evenings. For more information or to enroll over the phone, call CCHS at (217) 344 – 7297.

$99/6 week class (we meet for 1 hr each week)

Dog Walking & Pet Sitting – no availability for new clients at this time

I am happy to visit your home to care for your pet(s).  Specific behavior concerns or medical needs are no problem. I have experience with administering medication to dogs and cats. I also have experience with low stress handling of dogs, cats, and small animals, including dangerous, aggressive, and fearful animals. I am happy to care for animals of any species, including reptiles, amphibians, birds, and livestock. I have an enormous soft spot for especially fearful or aggressive dogs & cats that might not be safe or happy in the care of a typical pet sitter. Some families tell me they were not able to travel due to their pet’s behavior until they found me. If you would like I am more than happy to work on training or behavior modification with your pet(s) during my visit. At this time I am unable to stay overnight at your home. I send a photo update at each visit. The first visit (30 min) to meet you and your pets, see where supplies are kept, etc. is complimentary.

$20/30 minute long visit
$30/60 minute long visit

Champaign, Urbana, & Savoy, IL only

Boarding – no availability for new clients at this time

I offer boarding for dogs in my Urbana home on a very limited basis. When I have dogs boarding at my home they get at least one walk per day, along with at least 3 supervised play sessions in the fully fenced backyard. Dogs are not left alone for more than 3 hours. When dogs who stay here are left alone they are confined in a large dog-proofed room, an exercise pen, or a large crate (whichever is best for that individual) with a durable food dispensing puzzle toy.

Any interactions with other dogs are directly supervised and I take great care to set the dogs up for success. I do my best to make sure that all dogs enjoy the interaction and leave the situation behaviorally better off. Visiting dogs can be kept completely separate from other dogs throughout the entirety their stay if needed.

Good behavior and basic manners (sit, down, stay, loose leash walking, name attention, leave it) will be taught/reinforced at every chance. I am careful to set dogs up for success and prevent dogs from being reinforced for rude, pushy, or impulsive behavior. Calm polite behavior is reinforced heavily. I also send at least one photo or video update per day.

Dogs who visit have a lot of fun and learn a lot too. I am more than happy to work on any specific behavior concerns (ex aggressive for nail trims, aggressive to strangers, jumps to greet) during your dog’s stay and keep you updated on their progress. Particular instructions, special feeding, behavioral or medical needs are no problem at all.
