Private Behavior Consultations

We can meet at your home or another suitable location to work with your dog together (within 25 min travel time to/from Urbana, IL). Scheduling is flexible. During this session I can help you address questions or concerns you may have about your dog’s training or behavior. Includes ongoing support via phone and email at no extra charge. Common reasons people contact me for private lessons include leash pulling, jumping up to greet, barking, reactivity to dogs/people/animals/objects, overexcitement, anxiety, fear, aggression, new adoption or new puppy, destructive chewing, inappropriate play, crate training, etc. Dogs learn through consistency and repetition, and a strong relationship built on mutual respect and trust is crucial to success, so be prepared to continue the work we start at our session as part of day to day life with your dog. Group Dog Training Classes
I teach the Champaign County Humane Society group dog training classes. We currently offer a Puppy Socialization class (puppies 8 weeks to 4 months of age) and a Basic Manners class (5 months+). Classes are held at the Champaign County Humane Society in Champaign. Class size is small, and assistants help instruct and guide handlers throughout the course. Classes are currently held on Monday evenings. We cover basic cues such as sit, down, stay, come when called, leave it, hand target, loose leash walking, wait at doors, and we also work on an introduction to cooperative care for husbandry tasks as well as play several fun games with dog behavior in mind. Participants earn raffle tickets throughout the class when we notice them doing a nice job with their dogs and we have a raffle drawing for a prize at the last class.
To enroll over the phone for puppy socialization group class (puppies 2-4 months old), call CCHS at (217) 344 – 7297. Puppies need to be current on vaccines, but do not need to be fully vaccinated. The classroom is sanitized for puppies prior to class. There is a special potty area for puppies where dogs from the shelter are not walked. Rates:
$120/6 week class (half the fee goes to the Champaign County Humane Society and we meet for 1 hr each week, the first week is an orientation for humans only)
$20 discount for puppies/dogs adopted from a licensed non-profit organization or government run animal control facility
